Sketches & Status!

I hope everyone is enjoying the sketches.  I like how the model is working and how it allows me to just write something simple.  I get to test out different things, see how they work and etc… without worrying about polishing the story up to standard quality.  All good.

I am, however, now working on The Pact again and I hope to have it finished by tomorrow evening.  I’m at 5,500 words and I figure it’ll be 8,000 to 10,000 when I’m done.…

Modifying Existing Stories – A Question

So, I’m curious.  Is it an annoyance when someone modifies an existing story?  I’m very much guilty of this but I’d thought with Testing Grounds that I’d done a better job of not rushing the whole thing.  It seems like it was really, really well received but most of the comments were along the lines of “Awesome… I just wish XXXX part was drawn out a bit more…”

So, should I go back and modify it?  I’d originally worried that I was already dragging the story on and I left some things out just so it wouldn’t become dull.  Is that not the case?

Holidays

I’m giving myself a little break due to the holidays.  I’ve posted… what?  Seven stories in two months with Layers Chapter 10 and Testing Grounds Chapter 1 being heavyweights so I’m every so slightly worn out.

I think next I will finish The Pact to get it off my plate.  And then I’ll decide what to do after that.  I have (sigh) three ongoing stories in play and several ideas for stories outside of those.  Interesting to note that the three series are in three separate and distinct categories – Horror (The Lady Wore Red), Fantasy (Sacrifice) and Science Fiction (Testing Grounds).  …

Current Status!

I’m at 14,000 words on this science-fiction story.  I don’t often say this about all of my stories but, well, I think it’ll be worth the wait.  I’ve also decided to make it more than a single shot.  That unfortunately puts me in the uncomfortable position of having… what?  3 multi chapter stories right now?  But, I’ve found that sometimes I don’t really have that much control of the stories.

Laugh all you want but I get the idea, set up the world and then it unfolds as I write.  And, sometimes I can tell when it needs to be more than one chapter.  …

Science Fiction Thoughts

I did two short stories previously (one finished, one being worked on) that are science fiction.  I enjoy it a lot but those two were mostly just big idea things or, well, shlocky.

“Testing Grounds” (as it’s called now) is actually what I’d think of as science fiction – near future science fiction.  And, of course, since this is my erotica pen name, yes, it will be erotica.  With a transformation bend to it.  But, still science fiction.  This is more difficult than the two other stories because I’m actually trying to come up with little thoughts on what could be possible down the road.…

Upcoming Story – “Testing Grounds”

I had a small idea that I’m now turning into a short story.  I’d say it’d only be a few thousand words but, as the Maury meme goes, that has been determined to be a lie.  This is going to be a little science fiction TF piece because I haven’t done one yet :)  All you get is a very very small paragraph preview.  Sorry!

May 23rd, 2037

Like a spy cloaked against its enemies, three small spiked shapes danced unnoticed by the neighboring cells floating in the culture dish.  Dimmed light from the monitor reflected off of Dr. Campbell’s glasses while he watched the movement of the magnified sample.

Winter Coat

“I need another blanket,” Susan muttered.  “This is ridiculous.”  The walls of the young woman’s tent rippled against the light wind and she shivered under her blankets as the cold settled densely around her.  The constant light snowfall pelted her tent with muttered pattering sounds.  Susan peeked over the edge of her covers to watch her small tent sway.  She could feel the cold somehow reaching through the blankets to seep into her and her bones ached from it.  She weighed her options.  On one hand, she felt like she could survive well enough with her parka, clothes, gloves, hat and four blankets. …

Upcoming Short – Winter Coat

I see Sofury is having a little mini contest ( http://www.sofurry.com/calendar/view?id=3442 ) so I figured I’d try my hand at a quick little story.  Should be done with it tomorrow and here’s a paragraph preview:

Doo-dee-doot

Touching up the ending to Sacrifice and then on to The Lady Wore Red chapter 4 again.  Also, due to reader feedback, it looks like I’ll be making Sacrifice into chapter 1 of a larger story.  I was actually surprised at all of the very positive responses I’ve had with the story.  I just didn’t expect it to do so well.  Thankfully, I put in some hooks in case of a sequel :)  But then, I try to do that with most of my stories.  Part of it because it’s fun to leave things at least a little open (to show that the world in the story continues) but also just in case I add to it.…
